How providers and ratings are presented.

How the directory is assembled
The directory combines a reviewed local shortlist with additional providers found through recent public business listings. Duplicate business names are removed. A provider may serve a region without maintaining an office in every named city, and directory coverage will continue to expand.
What we look for
- A public website or established directory record.
- A stated Ventura County service area or a physical presence near the listed region.
- A service scope that fits the category and helps create useful variety.
- Live consumer-review information that can be checked directly on Google Maps.
- License or credential information when the public source makes it available.
What the list does not claim
- It is not a guarantee of workmanship, price, response time or availability.
- A high directory position is not an award or guarantee.
- Displayed ratings and review totals are dated public-listing snapshots and can change.
- We have not independently inspected every job, policy, insurance certificate or license.
- Providers cannot pay to move higher in the editorial list.
- A “VC Certified” rating means the site owner has direct customer experience with that provider; the reason is disclosed on the listing.
How “Best rated” works
The sort considers both the displayed star rating and review volume. This reduces the chance that a perfect score based on only a few reviews automatically outranks a similarly rated provider with a much larger review history. Providers without a rating snapshot remain available under the default directory view.
How to verify before hiring
- Open the live Google Maps page and read recent positive and negative reviews.
- Confirm that the provider handles your exact service and city.
- For licensed trades, verify the license and workers’ compensation status with the appropriate California regulator.
- Ask for insurance, scope, exclusions, schedule, payment terms and warranties in writing.
- For larger work, compare multiple bids that describe the same scope and materials.
Corrections and commercial relationships
Public information can be wrong or change without notice. Listings should be rechecked on a regular cadence and corrected when a material issue is found. Personal relationships or direct customer experience may inform a clearly labeled owner recommendation. 805 Service Match may receive compensation when a consumer requests an introduction, but compensation does not purchase an editorial rank. Any future sponsored placement should be labeled separately and clearly.
